So with the holiday season soon upon us, BonusFinder.com wanted to find out about the latest festive food trends in America. As part of an extensive study, we surveyed more than 3,000 Americans on their Christmas traditions when it came to their favorite foods.

2. Mashed potatoes – 26%
3. Stuffing – 21.1%
4. Gravy – 20.9%
5. Macaroni and cheese – 20.5%
6. Deviled eggs – 18.8%
7. Dressing – 14.9%
8. Green bean casserole – 14.3%
9. Cranberry sauce – 13.6%
10. Salad – 12.4%
Bread or rolls were revealed to be the favorite side dish in the US, with more than one in four (26.4%) of Americans voting for the festive classic and respondents in 15 states across the country ranking them as the No. #1 side.
Mashed potatoes came in second, after gaining a majority of votes in 13 states and missing the top spot only slightly with 26 percent of the overall votes. The top 5 was completed with stuffing (21.1%), gravy (20.9%) and macaroni and cheese (20.5%), all of which were ranked as the most popular festive side dish in six states.

Ham was once more crowned as the King of the Christmas table, with 30 states voting the festive classic as their ultimate favorite. Overall, more than a third (35%) of Americans across the country voted ham as their top Christmas dish.
Second place went to roast turkey, with more than one in four (27%) of US respondents voting it as their favorite and majority of residents in 8 states preferring the dish as a main. Other meaty favorites included roast chicken (18.7%), roast beef (16.4%), prime rib (16.3%) and steak (13.3%), while new favorites pasta (12.9%) and lasagna (12.3%) took seventh and eighth place.
The top 10 was completed by brisket (11.8%) and rice (11.4%), while fish, which gained majority of the votes in New York and Alaska, missed the list by a hair by scoring 11.2 percent of the overall votes.

2. Sugar cookies – 20.3%
3. Chocolate chip cookies – 19.4%
4. Hot chocolate – 17.7%
5. Eggnog – 17.5%
6. Fudge – 17.1%
7. Red velvet cake – 15.2%
8. Cinnamon rolls – 14.5%
9. Oreo cheesecake – 12.2%
10. Fruitcake – 11.3%
When it came to desserts, the study found that Americans simply love cheesecake. With 29 states and more than one in four (28.2%) of US respondents voting for the round-the-year classic, cheesecake is revealed to be the biggest hit of the Christmas dessert table.
Cheesecake was followed by two other classics, sugar cookies (20.3%) and chocolate chip cookies (19.4%), while the fourth and fifth place went to some classic Christmas beverages – hot chocolate (17.7%) and eggnog (17.5%).
The top 10 was completed by fudge (17.1%), red velvet cake (15.2%), cinnamon rolls (14.5%), Oreo cheesecake (12.2%) and fruitcake (11.3%).
