The DP World Tour’s 19th annual Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) tees off early Thursday morning.
Played since 2006, Victor Perez (-18) won by one stroke over Sebastian Soderberg (-17) and Min Woo Lee (-17) last season. Padraig Harrington (-16) and Alex Noren (-14) rounded out the top five.
Here are our top four picks to win the tournament, with odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook:
Rory McIlroy (+450)
If the favorite can finish first or second this weekend, he will secure the top spot in the Rolex Series, where he has had solid success winning the season-long points race five times. This will be his 26th start in 2024 and is looking for his first win since the Wells Fargo Championship on May 12 where he shot 17-under-par to pick up a $3.6 million check. He has finished in the top 10 in three of his last six tournaments.
McIlroy is shooting not only for a win, but something more. Many sports betting sites have him also listed at +110 for a top five finish.
Tommy Fleetwood (+900)
A two-time, back-to-back winner of this tournament in 2017 and 2018, Fleetwood obviously knows how to win this tournament and his seeking his first win of the year. His best tournament of the year was a runner-up finish to Scottie Scheffler in the Olympics back on Aug. 4. He has four top 20 finishes this year including a tied for fifth at the BMW Championship on Aug. 25.
He has had snippets of success this year and because of his experience on this layout will be in the mix. He is also listed at +190 for a top five finish on the FanDuel sports betting app.
Shane Lowry (+1400)
The winner of the 2019 edition has had an impressive year with six top 10 finishes and 10 top 25 finishes including a ninth-place tie at the Tour Championship on Sept. 1. He has had three top 10 finishes in his last six tournaments.
Look for him to get back to his Open Championship form, where he finished sixth on July 21. He is also listed at +300 for a top five finish.
Min Woo Lee (+2200)
He likes the course as evidenced by his tied for second place finish last season. He is looking for his third single-digit finish of the year, highlighted by a tied for second at the Rocket Mortgage Classic on June 30. He also had a tied for second place finish at the Cognizant Classic on March 3.
I think he has a top three finish in him with a possible win. He is also listed at +450 for a top five finish.
