?? Philadelphia Eagles Betting
Philadelphia Eagles represent the East Side of Pennsylvania in the National Football League, playing in the NFC East division. They faced the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 Super Bowl, which was played on February 12, 2023. You can read more about the big game from our Super Bowl guide.
The Eagles were one of the favorites to go all the way in the 2023 season, but were ousted by the pesky Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round. Despite the early end to the season, Jason Kelce was all over our tv screens as he supported brother Travis all the way to the Super Bowl win.
The next NFL season starts on September 5, 2024. You can bet on every Eagles game every season with PA online sportsbooks, which include likes of BetMGM and DraftKings.
?? How to Bet on the Eagles
Betting on the Eagles is very simple, and you can find all kinds of wagering types on all sportsbooks that operate in Pennsylvania. If you’re new to betting, knowing how the different bet types work is very important. Our NFL betting guide provides more details, but the main bet types are:
- Moneyline: Moneyline bets are wagers on who wins the game, the underdog (with plus odds like +120) or the favorite (with minus odds like -125). If the game is expected to be close, these are quite close and vice versa. In football, you can’t bet on a tie.
- Point Spread Bet: When placing a point spread bet, you bet on the point difference between the two teams. The odds can be as follows: Eagles +4.5 (-110) & Chiefs -4.5 (-110). The Chiefs must win by five or more points if you bet on them, while the Eagles have to stay within four or win outright for that bet to win. The odds are the same on both sides to attract an even number of bets, but most sportsbooks also provide alternative lines and odds.
- Total (Over/Under): If you’d rather not bet on either team, you can bet on the total number of points in the game; whether it’s over or under 44/54.5/59, etc. If the predetermined number is a whole number, 44 for example, there’s the possibility for a push, meaning you get your stake back if the total points are 44. If it’s 54.5, there are only winning and losing bets. Again, you can choose from numerous over/under options when wagering.
- Parlay: Parlays combine multiple wagers in one single bet. You can choose the legs from different games or one single game, and the more legs you have, the higher the odds. You must win all legs for the parlay to win, so be cautious when adding more than three legs.
- Prop Bet: Props come in all shapes and sizes. You can bet on individual players actions that don’t directly influence the end result, as well as team props. You can also wager on things like the winner of the Super Bowl coin toss. Different sportsbooks have different numbers of props, so you can browse a couple catalogs before choosing what to bet on.
- Future: A future is a bet on an upcoming event, such as the Super Bowl winner. You can always check the most recent odds from the sportsbooks, as next year’s odds are posted soon after the conclusion of the Super Bowl game. For the 2024 season, DraftKings has the Eagles winning the Super Bowl at +1500 and ranks them 6th.
?? Betting Tips for New Eagles Bettors
The NFL is the most bet on league in the United States, topping the betting handle in every state every Fall. This means that there are a lot of wagers that impact the odds and favorites all the time.
If you are a new sports bettor, you might find this a little intimidating but don’t fret! Sports betting is supposed to be fun and add a little something extra to the game experience, so you can just wager on the most common bet types without constantly checking the stats, reading the predictions, and comparing odds.
However, we do have a couple of tips if you want to make the most out of sports betting.
- Middle: Middling is a great way to try to ensure you get at least a little bit of profit from your wagers. However, it does require that you follow the line movements. The most common option for middling is the point spread: if you bet on the Eagles at -4.5, and later the line moves to 5.5, you can wager on their opponent at +5.5 to guarantee you win something. The goal is to win both bets; this occurs if the Eagles win by 5 points exactly. One word of caution though: don’t attempt middling on the same sportsbook, but use two different ones. If you frequently middle on the NFL, you might get kicked out from the sportsbook.
- Choose Bets: Online sportsbooks provide hundreds of markets on any given NFL game and some include alternative lines as well. This means you could have nearly 1,000 betting options! Of course, there is no way you could bet on everything, so make sure to choose some bet types before you wager on anything. This is especially important during live betting, as the odds change rapidly and you might get swept up in the moment and overspend. This is why experienced bettors look at the odds of their chosen games and bet types all the time, to see when the lines are favorable but also not to just bet on everything and hope for the best. If you have a favorite player, it’s totally fine to bet on them to have touchdown in every game. However, we don’t recommend you bet on half the team just to see if you can win at least one of your bets.
- Manage Your Money: Finally, settle on a bankroll and place consistent wagers if you want to take betting seriously. You should not bet more than 5% of your bankroll on any market; this way, you control your money and don’t lose it all during a tough stretch. If you feel like your betting is getting out of control, stop immediately and seek help. In Pennsylvania, the PGCB provides resources for problem gambling, as does 1-800-GAMBLER.

?? Notable Philadelphia Players
- A.J. Brown has been in the headlines for his X account activity in the offseason, but the Eagles will need the wide receiver in top shape next season.
- Nakobe Dean was injured for a big chunk of the 2023 regular season but should be good to go by the start of the next one.
- Dallas Goedert seemed to have gone off on QB Hurts at the end of the Wild Card game that ended the Eagles’ hopes for a second Super Bowl victory, but the tight end claimed he was angry about his own mistake. Either way, Goedert is a key component of the Hurts led offense.
- Jalen Hurts was a bit more shaky in decision-making last season compared to the previous one, which was probably detrimental to the team. Can he rebuild his confidence and go for the championship next year?
- Lane Johnson reached his fifth Pro Bowl in 2023 and should be a lock for the Eagles’ offense for many years to come.
- Kenny Pickett finds himself on the other side of PA after the Steelers sent all of their QBs packing after the Super Bowl. He needs to show more to become a serious QB #1, though.
- Haason Reddick has been one of the best players in the Eagles’ defense in the past two years and made it to the Pro Bowl both years. Reddick is entering the last year of his current contract and could be traded prior to the start of the 2024 regular season.
?? The 2023 Season
The Eagles were off to a fantastic start, sitting at the top of the NFC with a 11-1 record after Week #12. However, the lack of defensive prowess made the team go 1-5 in their last six games to finish the season with 12-6. The depressing ending to the regular season caused the Eagles to lose the #1 seeds in the NFC and NFC East to the 49ers and the Cowboys, respectively.
While the Eagles still made the playoffs, they weren’t exactly the favorites anymore and fell out in the Wild Card round after losing to the Buccaneers 9-32. After the loss, both offensive coordinator Brian Johnson and defensive coordinator Sean Desai got the boot and will not be returning next season. Later on, rumours about head coach Nick Sirianni’s temper went into overdrive; it won’t help prepping for next season.
?? Philadelphia Eagles Playoff History
Philadelphia Eagles have been a part of the NFL for a long time, and have advanced to the playoffs on several occasions. Most recently, they lost the Wild Card round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024. Their latest playoff win was in the 2023 Conference Championship game in 2023 against the San Francisco 49ers, as they lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles’ lone Super Bowl win is from 2018, when the team defeated the New England Patriots 41-33.
