? Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers Online Betting

Learn to bet on the Steelers right here.

The Steelers are in action from September until early January for the NFL regular season. You can also place futures bets on the Super Bowl winner, but not on the NFL Draft as Pennsylvania doesn’t allow bets on non-sports events. During the season, you can find betting odds for each game after the previous week has ended.

?? How to Bet on the Steelers

If you’re new to sports betting, you should learn what the different bet types are and what exactly you’re betting on. All of the main bet types are available for all Pittsburgh Steelers games, in addition to other types of wagers you can find on individual PA online sportsbooks.

Point Spread

Point spread bets are some of the most popular bets football bettors make. These are wagers on the point margin between the two teams, and the odds are displayed like this:

Steelers -3.5 -110
Ravens +3.5 -110

This means the Steelers need to win by four points to cover the spread and the Ravens need to stay within three points or win outright to cover. Odds are often -110 on both sides to get bettors to wager evenly, but there can be some differences especially right after the lines are published.

Moneyline

Moneyline is a more simple bet type since you only wager on the winner of the game. If the odds are Steelers -125 and Ravens +135, the Steelers are the favorites and the Ravens the underdogs. If you wager on the Steelers, you need to bet $125 to win $100, but if you wager on the Ravens, betting $100 successfully will earn you $135.

Total (Over/Under)

A total bet is more simple, and quite exciting as well. You are betting whether the total number of points is over or under 45.5/50/59.5/etc. You don’t need to guess the exact score, just the combined points.

Props

There are two types of proposition bets, or props. One type is team props, meaning you can wager on things like first team to score, which team is leading after the first half, which teams gets the first field goal, and so forth.

The other type is player props, which are options like George Pickens to score a touchdown, who scores the first touchdown in the second quarter, and who gets the first catch.

Each online sportsbook has a big selection of props with good odds, although potential injuries and the starting quarterback will alter the odds pretty quickly.

Live Bets

You can also place these types of wagers like during the game. The odds change quickly, but shrewd bettors can make some excellent bets if they sense a touchdown coming during the drive or one team gaining control of the action. Live betting is available for all Pittsburgh games on all PA online sportsbooks.

Futures

Futures are bets on upcoming events. You can wager on the winner of the Super Bowl, League Awards, or the division winners. You can also bet on the Steelers over/under wins (technically not a future) and whether they make it to the playoffs or not. Future odds change as the season progresses and teams fall out of playoff contention, so in general the earlier you bet, the bigger the potential payout.

?? Tips for Betting on the Steelers

The most important thing to remember when betting on anything is not to go over your limits. You can set betting and deposit limits on sportsbooks so that you never spend more than you can afford to. The rest of our betting tips consider the Steelers in particular.

  • Who’s Playing?
This is pretty obvious, but you should be aware at least who’s in and who’s out of the top players on each time. These types of things are reflected on the odds, but might not ultimately have a big effect on the team if the back-ups are solid or the opponent is short-staffed as well. All in all, checking the injury report is a must for all bettors looking to make winnings wagers. In addition, new trades making their debutes might not be huge assets right away, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be excellent later down the line.
  • Insights from Previous Games
Another quite clear one, but a good reminder nontheless. If the Steelers’ defense has been able to shut down the opponents in the past few games, but the offense hasn’t produced much, betting Under is the right choice. You can also find some tips for players who are hot right now based on their statistics. Since the NFL records basically everything that happens on the field, you can easily follow up on games you missed or if you want to double check something. A word of warning though: the oddsmakers comb through these stats as well, so you probably won’t find a ton of insights they don’t have. However, you can still disagree with their predictions and bet on alternative lines if you feel you’re in the right.
  • Trust Your Gut Feeling
Ultimately, this is sports and anything can happen. The NFL teams are quite evenly matched for the most part, and there’s always the chance for an upset. You should bet on what you think will happen and then see whether you were right. It’s very difficult to make winning bets consistently, which is why you shouldn’t get too caught up in the wagers and likelihoods. Betting on the Steelers should be fun and not stressful!
  • Benefiting from Bonuses
If you’re a new bettor, you can claim welcome bonuses from online sportsbooks. If you want to, you can use these bonuses to your benefit and bet both sides of a game or place opposing bets on different sportsbooks. You shouldn’t do this on just one sports betting site, since it might get you banned. In addition, most bonuses prohibit from you doing that anyway, which is why it’s better to place one bet on one book and the other on another site.

? Pennsylvania Sportsbooks

Betting on the Steelers is very simple on all online sportsbooks in Pennsylvania, just pick the ones you like the best and start wagering. You can find all kinds of bets on all books, since the NFL is by far the most popular betting market in PA online gambling. You can also cash in some excellent PA sports betting promos on the sportsbooks we recommend.

?? Notable Steelers Players

The Steelers have gone through big changes in recent years but there are plenty of core players who keep Pittsburgh in the fight for a playoff spot every year.

  • Chris Boswell, #9, K
Boswell is one of the most reliable kickers in the League and has been with the Steelers for a long time. Rarely lets the team down.
  • Justin Fields, #2, QB
All yinzers are curious to see how this turns out. Fields’ term in Chicago wasn’t a big success.
  • Minkah Fitzpatrick, #39, S
Fitzpatrick has that star quality the Steelers are lacking. Three-time Pro Bowler.
  • Najee Harris, #22, RB
Last season was difficult; can Harris still be an asset to the Steelers?
  • Cameron Heyward, #97, DT
Heyward is the heart and soul of the Steelers but might not get his contract renewed.
  • Alex Highsmith, #56, LB
Watt’s padawan is proving to be an excellent player.
  • George Pickens, #14, WR
The young star had some chemistry with Pickett, can he find a similar connection with the new QBs?
  • T.J. Watt, #90, LB
The best player in the Steelers team. Has struggled with injuries recently.
  • Russell Wilson, #3, QB
The veteran didn’t impress in the Broncos, will Steel City be a better fit?

? 2023 Season

The Steelers had an eventful 2023 regular season. There was uncertainty in the air about the quarterbacks since neither Trubisky or Pickett were dominating the field in 2022.

Following their Week 1 blowout loss to the 49ers, the team bounced back and went 7-3 in their next ten games. The regular season ended with three losses and three wins, with the Steelers’ total being 10-7 and the team made it into the playoffs.

Pittsburgh met the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round of the playoffs in snowy Buffalo and lost 17-31, ending their season. This was the Steelers’ fifth straight loss in a post-season game.

?? Steelers Playoff Appearances

?? FAQ

1?? What is the Steelers QB situation?

In the Spring 2022, Mitch Trubisky was signed to the team and Kenny Pickett was drafted, which left the Steelers with three QBs that could start.

After Trubisky lost the starting position to Pickett in 2022, Pickett started in 2023 but got injured mid-way through the season. Trubisky got the starting spot again, but lost it to Mason Rudolph, who played the last three games of the regular season and the Wild Card game.

Soon after the loss, head coach Mike Tomlin said Pickett would be QB #1 in the 2024 season and that they are looking for a veteran to back him.

In an incredible twist, the Steelers signed veteran Russell Wilson, traded Kenny Pickett to the Eagles, and traded in Justin Fields from the Cubs. Rudolph headed to Tennessee, while Trubisky is now a Buffalo Bill. What an offseason!

2?? Who has the best odds on the Steelers?

Things can change quickly and oddsmakers can have different views on match-ups, so there's no single book with consistently the best odds. If you want to be certain you find the best odds for each market, we recommend signing up on at least a few of the sportsbooks in PA.

If you are not certain which ones might suit you the best, you can check out reviews of each legal sportsbook and of all PA online casinos on BonusFinder US. Once you've decided on certain books, you can hedge your bets with the welcome bonuses.

3?? How can I follow the Steelers games?

You catch the games on local networks and on Prime Video. In addition, NFL Network shows all NFL games and the Steelers Nation Radio broadcasts games live.
